"Hi!"

As many of you know, Susannah LOVES "talking" on the phone, or anything that looks remotely like a phone, including iPods (see video) and remote control devices. She's starting to get good at it, too, and will often mimic our normal pattern of cell phone conversation (consisting of "Hi", "OK", and "Bye"), which encompasses most of what Alex and I say over the phone to each other. She has learned that I keep my cell in my left jacket pocket, and has stolen it without me noticing on numerous occasions. If any of you receive a call from Alex's or my number with nothing but heavy breathing and the sound of buttons being pressed on the other line, it's probably her.

Dancing Queen

We try to play a wide variety of music in the house, mostly because we enjoy it, but also because as the typical modern-day parents who tend to over-think and over-do everything, we think there's a chance it will make Susannah a BETTER PERSON. We play all sorts of stuff from our own collection, which is continually enhanced by mixes from our musically adept friends (Miriam and Tor come to mind). I don't know whether this will make Susannah a better person or not, but she does seem to enjoy it, at least some of the time. Here's the latest shoot of her adorably awkward dance moves (note: this particular music selection will almost certainly not make her a better person):

Grandma Time

At the 19th Ave Playground in Golden Gate Park

Susannah is a lucky little girl - she got to spend all of last week with her Grandma! The weather was fantastic for nearly the entire time, making daily visits to the playground all the more appealing. Susannah has definitely grown quite a bit since Grandma's last solo visit to San Francisco. That was in March, and she was just learning to crawl. At that point, Susannah's speed and radius of travel were obviously limited. Now she can get into trouble with alarming speed. She even had my poor mom following her through a kid-sized tunnel at the playground - who knows what fun is in store for next time? Mom's visit also coincided with the release of the H1N1 vaccine in San Francisco, which had us waiting in line for 6 HOURS! That's right..from about 4-10pm, either me and my mom or me and Alex waited at the community clinic, along with about 1000 other people with kids, so that Susannah could get her shot. I must say, it was so nice to have a nice dinner ready after arriving home from that ordeal. Alex and I even got to go on a date (which, to clarify, was completely separate from the "waiting 6 hours in line for the swine flu shot" affair). Thanks, Mom!
