Season's Greetings

We have had quite an exciting Christmastime around here. In mid-December, Chris and Cynthia (Alex's parents) were in town for a week while Chris attended the American Society for Cell Biology meeting here in San Francisco. While here, most days they picked up Susannah early from daycare and had some nice grandparent time while Alex and I worked. At around the same time, we had the pleasure of seeing some old friends from graduate school who happened to be in town for the same meeting. Susannah enjoyed meeting (and drooling on) all of you!

You may notice that Susannah is wearing some fabulous outfits in these pictures. Cynthia made the pretty pink multicolor sweater (along with matching booties, a hat, and blanket!) and my mom made the Christmas stocking. The snowflake outfit, complete with Teletubby-style hat, was made by....yours truly.

Grandma Berkes to the Rescue!

Thank goodness for grandmas. In the last couple of weeks, I have had to leave Susannah and Alex to go on a couple of job interviews - one in Oregon, the other in Pennsylvania. On both occasions, my mother has come to San Francisco to help Alex in my absence. This has been a very stressful time for us, but it has given me peace of mind knowing that grandma is holding down the fort. It has allowed me to focus on my work without feeling too worried, and that has made a huge difference in my overall stress level. Thank you Grandma! Shown above are pictures of Grandma and Susannah hangin' at home and in Golden Gate Park.
