Happy Thanksgiving!

We have so much to be thankful for: wonderful families, great friends, and our healthy and feisty little girl. We're staying close to home this year - later today we will make a 6-block trek to celebrate Thanksgiving with some friends. Best wishes to all this Thanksgiving!

Thursdays with Rachael

Wow, here we are on the day before Thanksgiving and I haven't posted since Halloween. That probably has something to do with the fact that I went back to work a few weeks ago and things have been insanely busy, which I will describe in more detail on future posts. Clearly, I have some catching up to do. But first things first! As my maternity leave is ending, I wanted to thank my good friend Rachael for her company over the past few months. Rachael is a former lab-mate of mine who is now an adjunct professor at Dominican University up in Marin county. Since Susannah was just a few weeks old, Rachael has come over almost every week, usually Thursdays, for lunch and to hang out/help out all afternoon. I really enjoyed our afternoons together as it provided a much-needed change of pace from the usual routine of caring for an infant. Rachael kept me up to date on all kinds of gossip, provided some much-needed relief when Susannah was being difficult, and has just been a great friend all-around! Alas, all good things must come to an end...I'm back at work now, winter is upon us, and soon Rachael and her husband will be moving out of their apartment 10 blocks away into a new place down in San Mateo. We will of course find a way to get together on a regular basis, but it probably won't involve half day-long visits every Thursday. I will have very fond memories of my maternity leave, thanks in part to Rachael.
